The expert prunes the site. They use a noindex tag on thin content (like archive pages)  and use the robots.txt file to block crawlers from parameter-based URLs. This forces Google to focus its crawl on only the high-value pages, improving indexation speed and overall site quality.   

The Canonical Catastrophes: A Simple Tag, a Costly Error

The rel=canonical tag is one of the most powerful and most dangerous tools in SEO. It’s a simple line of code meant to tell Google: “Of these 5 duplicate pages, this one is the master copy. The Vanity Metrics Trap: Chasing Rankings and Traffic

The learner, and sadly many low-quality agencies, reports on “vanity metrics”.   

  • Rankings: “We’re #1 for ‘blue widgets’!”. My first question is always: “So what?” Does that keyword actually get search volume? More importantly, does it convert? Ranking #1 for a high-traffic, zero-conversion keyword is a failure.
  • Traffic/Impressions: “Organic traffic is up 50%!”. Again, so what? If that 50% increase in traffic came from a keyword with the wrong intent, and your bounce rate is 99% with zero new leads, that traffic is worthless.
